Covid Shadow of Unfairness

In conjunction with my Facebook news page I would like to share this link. Check out the article from the ABC News Network  and the opinion of EEAK News Australia here. (my news page).

In EEAK News Australia’s opinion. It seems strange that when you read travel articles Joyce is bragging that in the domestic travel area he expects to be running at 70% of the domestic travel market. Especially when asked about the new player Regional Express on the Golden Triangle Route (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.) Surely there will be a spike in air travel once everyone is jabbed with the vaccine Joyce wants everyone to have, before they can get on a Qantas plane. So why the rampage on sacking so many workers?
When calculating these losses, why isn’t Qantas using the same logic it used years ago in a round of redundancies where it needed to sack 1700 workers back in the 90’s? In that case the cost to eradicate those jobs was $23million. A Massive sum even back then. One of our reporters was involved in those meetings and when asking the management about the $23million cost whiteboard economics came out. It was explained that that $23Million becomes an ‘Extraordinary cost.'
That $23million going forward moving forward fell into the 'Extraordinary Cost' bracket and was only seen for one budgeting period, therefore didn’t count moving forward going forward (sic).
What we here at EEAK News Australia can’t understand is why Qantas under this duress can’t turn around and declare the Covid emergency an “Extraordinary Cost or Loss” moving forward going forward. After all the astounding management team there have already cost the Australian tax payer $800 million in subsidies under the guise of keeping Australians employed. Isn’t that in itself an 'Extraordinary Support' for the sleight of hand business opportunists Qantas looks a lot like nowadays?
There is a dark side of business raring it’s ugly head under the shadow of Covid. Where lobbyists are trying to undo all the good made by ‘collective agreements’ and the ‘safety nets’ these things provide to keep workers safe from unscrupulous employers. The ones with Ferrari’s on their minds and fat profits and bonuses, in their sights at the cost of those people working under them, moving forward going forward.
The words un-Australian come up a lot in discussions when companies like Qantas want to stitch up their workers in order to ensure some fictitious bottom line, to fill the pockets of already rich company shareholders. At EEAK we call it ‘Extraordinary Unfairness.’ Just because someone isn’t fortunate enough to be a boardroom dweller and botox ridden executive, it does not mean that they are any less entitled to earn a fair days wages for a fair days work.
In some cases workers are earning as little as $136 in that working day as opposed to black suited deal doer executives earning as much as $100,000 a day for some of the large earners. Hardly a fair days pay when you look at it, unless of course you are getting it, which means you would use every grubby tactic available to secure this level of greed is maintained in your life. Or would you?
This is “Extraordinary Greed” at the cost of the working class ever going backward workers under the guidance of biased so called safety net organisations, aiding and abetting this new wave of greed infecting some Australian businesses nowadays. Opportunism at it’s peak. That’s what it is.
There is one thing for sure the businesses researched by this author that are involved in the great Covid stitch up of workers will not get one cent of their daily spending, moving forward going forward, and we suggest the same for people reding this article.
It is un-Australian for businesses to be moving forward going forward on the backs of Australian workers in those same businesses going backwards moving backwards, economically speaking.
