Virtual Fools Real Idiots in a Stupid World.

Picture from the internet.

A moment of fiction? Or is it?

Here’s a little story about entitlement. Exhibit 'A,'17 going on eighteen. The best part of their day which is extremely constricted by the never ending vulture like stance of staring into the phone, that is very rarely out of their hand. Yeah the best part of their day? Going back to bed after they have been in bed. This bed, unmade for what seems like decades the stench of body odour, crumpled sox, underpants and clothes interspersed with empty coke cans and various chip and sweet wrappers brings tears to your eyes if you dare put yourself in that environment. Not sure what colour the carpet is because it hasn’t been seen for the rubbish the last couple of years. When challenged on these things the natural fall back position, like most things outside the field of vision taken up by the screen is perjurer territory for them.

They lie so much or I suppose we could label it, 'virtual truth' which is based on only one thing, words and noises being issued to expedite this time in this world, so they can escape back to that virtual world where they can be what ever curated persona they choose to put on today. You can be assured though it won’t be something grand and honourable. It will hold up mediocrity and boganism as the 21st century equivalent of Calvin Clyne or some other fashion label.

This is a male of the species. Habits, lethargic. Why because not only the wasted days on the device their nights are spent somnambulistically searching for the next pseudo hit. Remembering these hits are all virtual, like their engagement with the real world. Well that is in their minds anyway.

The simplest things like personal hygiene, tidiness in the houses they share. Their regard for other peoples spaces over their real world need to do their thing in that realm momentarily, then go back to the device. Can’t be away from that thing too long may miss another virtual event of some sort. When reminded there is a real world out there, a place where people work. Oh and in some cases these beings have to work where they throw tantrums, like spoilt two year olds in the sweets isle of your favourite supermarket. But these tantrums result in “Don’t come Monday.” Or the sack. They express that as good news because they can go back to their dingy foul smelling grottos to live out another chapter of extreme vacuity online.

Online where they can pretend they are doing really cool things and dream about being a YouTube star or Tik Tok viral sensation. When I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot, but that’s another story.

Back to the millennium voids. Hold up in the flickering darkness to pack with others of their tribe. The unwashed, overweight, emaciated come out to inhabit gaming shops and delve into their  wallets to extricate the last of their coins to put into the next great game. Or the more sophisticated ones who just buy online. They are clever because they don’t have to go anywhere in their vile smelling crumpled clothes smelling of cats piss even though they don’t own a cat.

They fight the slightest hint or suggestion of getting a real job in the real world, the weaker humans who fear the yelling and tantrums these voids emanate to get their own way their next virtual fix enable this trip to nowhere. They win if you back away. It’s time to stand up to this stupidity unplug them, un-finance their habits, sell the equipment on eBay have them get a job to buy their own. Make them clean their room and put down the device because these souls are already lost unless there is stern serious and unending intervention.

In this digital age, young people want everything now, it’s a shame that everything they want now is on the other side of an electronic screen in a virtual world of nothing. The same nothing they apply to their real reality living in the real world.
